Jazz Standard, John Abercombie, Saturday, January 29
Jazz Standard was packed and barbecue was steaming. The great John Abercrombie was playing the guitar and Greg Osby was magnificent on sax. “We never know what it is we are going to come up with - said Mr. Abercrombie – otherwise what is the point of playing – we could just turn on the radio”

On Friday night my friend and I witnessed the astonishing Alicia Olatuja and Max Wild. It was African jazz night at Zinc Bar and dear readers it was intoxicating and hot in there.

Even if the weather is cold and wet, Jazz Nights are always fun and full of surprises. Yesterday I wondered into a Zinc Bar, which wasn’t too crowded and I was lucky to hear the wonderful Lara Bello. She was dancing and singing and her voice and music were magical. Lara Bello writes her own lyrics and maybe I will be able to use them here. Keep checking for updates!
